Meteor Showers and Racoons

I watched the Geminids meteor shower last night with my family. It was one of the biggest meteor showers we had. The super moon was so full and bright that it was hard to see all of them, but I wasn’t complaining. It was a magical experience watch watching the meteors as they hit the earths outer surface burning beautiful colors away. I just happened to be in Cabo right by the ocean with the moon light beaming off of the night waters. I wanted to know what constellations I was looking at so I downloaded an app called Skyview and saw all kinds of cool things! The pic below is the actual sky I was looking at, and the gemini sign appeared! The app draws out the constellation for you in live time! It was an absolutely beautiful experience and I’m so happy that I stayed up late to watch it.fullsizerender-8

On another note as we were watching the shower, and feeling all Zen and everything, I hear something and the bushes next to the house. It sounded like someone walking up to the house, and with the Mafia wars here so bad right now of course the only logical thought in my mind was that the cartel where coming through the house. My stepmom and I swiftly got up, grabbed my brother (who automatically brought out weapons, I was given a police baton) got my dad up out of bed, just to find out that it was a raccoon the size of our Labrador Bob! LOL, we all had a good laugh and appreciated that we moved so fast as a unit thinking there was an intruder! Gotta love family time.

Driving the Baja Sur

I recently drove through the Baja California Sur of Mexico with my family that moved to Cabo. Before driving through Mexico we heard all kinds of stories about how dangerous it is, not to drive at night, blah blah blah. These warnings are probably true, but after I got over the hype I actually enjoyed it. We didn’t drive at night as advised, but it was mostly because the roads are so bad, and there is absolutely no light on the highway at all, and let me tell you its dark as shit out there. I couldn’t help but notice all of the different geographical terrain. It was so freaking beautiful to see. I just kept thinking of the old wild West movies I used to watch with my Papa with cowboys and indians riding through the untouched countryside. Cactuses were all over and the mountains, more than I’ve ever seen! I had no clue how cool this journey was going to be. In each town we stopped in the people were so sweet and inviting. My broken Spanish worked way better than I thought, until I somehow became the family translator, lol.fullsizerender-6 I noticed that the people of Mexico have a great respect for those who have passed away. The roads here are quite terrible in parts and there are beautiful monuments all down the highway for those that have been in accidents.fullsizerender-4img_4384As we got into La Paz and Lorreta you start to see the coast open up. The ocean was so beautiful, with so many different colors of blues I’d never seen before. They’re were gigantic rocks in the middle of the ocean, it looked like something straight out of a movie! At one point I glanced over looking out into the ocean, and saw my first whale!  I had no clue what I was in for going into this, but the beauty of not knowing is quite magical sometimes. It gives you that feeling of being a kid again and seeing something all new for the first time. fullsizerender-7We finally arrived in Cabo at the new home in Cabo de sol and the view was beyond breathtaking.

If you are ever thinking about driving through the Baja Sur, just be smart. Drive during the day, dont speed, drive an suv or truck (your car will die a terrible death), and take lots of photos!

So happy I made this journey.

“How the f**k do I find my passion”

@pattyjpics asked: “How do we figure out what our passion is?”

I really wish i had the ultimate answer…. but, yeah, I don’t. I’m a creative right-sided brain kind of person, and it’s so frustrating when people say “Just follow your passion” yeah, sounds great, just as soon as I figure wtf it is…..

Lets start with some positivity. Just like a lot of things in life, if you think its hard to find your passion, or thinking its never going to happen then you are going to stay in that negative mindset and be closed to possibilities and opportunities. You’ll inadvertently miss all the little signs life gives you because you’ve closed off your self awareness. Switch your thoughts and tell yourself that you CAN do what you love! Are any of the people you’re around following their passion? No? Then its time to expand your circle. Associate yourself with people that are inspired and love what they do.img_0867Try taking a look into your past. What where some big moments where you where happy doing something. It may be something you looked past because your self awareness was broken. You might be like me and love music, fashion, fitness, traveling, and hiking, but theres comes a point to where I ask myself “How can I put all of this together to be profitable and not just a hobby?(BIG difference)”  For some people a passion is just fun, and turning it into work changes it from a “love to do” to a “have to do.” This has defiantly happened to me. If you’re alert to who might be in need of your new emerging passion, now you have an aim at a clearer conversation on how, where, and when your passion can serve them. As I seek my passion I always find parts of myself that always wanna fight each other. Don’t let those dumb ass voices win, because you’ll start listening to them, letting doubt in, and that awesome new passion that was gonna be great is now out of your grasp again.img_0870

Reassure yourself that you’ve got this, and that you’re worth it, because you are. You’re a human being, in a playground of freedom and imagination, with an entire world to discover it in. TAKE THE LEAP! Be serious about it. Be committed to your happiness and freedom. If you stay with the status quo, you might as well be one of those fucking people that sits behind their desk all day hating life, just to go home and sit on the couch and self loath. Now what damn sense does that make? That ain’t helping no-one! So find your own version of BRAVE. The path of passion is where you do things that scare you juuust enough, without leaving you in a constant state of fear. Think of it as expanding your comfort zone, rather than leaving it. Your soul knows what you need, listen to it.

“Breakfast by the Beach”

My plans changed unexpectedly the other morning, and I found myself fully dressed, and frustrated, with no where to go. Being the optimistic person that I am, I figured that there’s some divine reason I wasn’t supposed to go that day. I was hungry as all hell, so I decided to go find some breakfast. img_2010

I had been wanting to go to Coronado Island for quite some time, and found myself only 20 minutes away, so I said “fuck it why not, there’s for sure have breakfast there!” I put the Hotel De Coronado into my gps and went for it. I Parked my car along the beach and walked up the grand historical hotel, which is breathtaking. They have a cafe that sits in the middle of Hotel de Coronado facing the ocean with a million dollar view called the Sheerwater. The hostess sat me at a lovely table and suggested the crab benedict , so that’s what I ordered.

The waiter kept telling me I should try the buffet inside since it was all one price ($37), but I’m a huge Benedict fan so I stuck with my guns. It came and honestly it was just okay. Kind of disappointed, so since this little Italian can eat, I went inside for the buffet. Omg shut the fuck up… I should’ve started inside! Everything was so incredible looking and tasting! Wow! I finished my delicious rest of my breakfast, took a walk along the beach to do some reflecting and left the beautiful little Island.

Processed with VSCO with a5 preset Moral of this story, or where this story was supposed to go, lol…. when plans change or things go a different way, you can either make a positive or a negative out of it. A story I always think about that I heard once and I’m sure you’ve probably heard it. Is the one about a person that was late to work had to stop and get something which made them even more late, and how frustrated they where… ended up being an employee at the World Trade Center, the day of the attack. That story stuck in my head and every time I’m late or something happens that shifts my plans I believe that it’s somehow the universe keeping me from something negative, so I consciously make a positive out of the situation……But back to the food though… if for some random reason you find yourself in the Coronado Island area during breakfast… make s stop here. Seriously. Now go have a kick ass day.

“Balancing Act”

@pattyjpics asked “How do we find balance?” I struggle with this, as I’m sure many of us do, so I did some research… Having balance means having a handle on your shit, feeling calm, clear-headed, and motivated. I mean who doesn’t want that?!? I found out that there’s an internal and external part to this equation. Too often we get off centered putting too much focus on one or the other. Some people focus on external things, like work, relationships, activities, paying less attention to what is going on with your heart and mind. Versus internally, you might do self reflecting so much that you miss out on experiencing life.

I found Tinnybuddha.com made an outline to help understand:

Internal (Mind, Heart, Health)

  • Mind: Challenging yourself intellectually vs. creating opportunities for your mind to rest
  • Heart: Giving love vs. receiving love
  • Health: Eating, drinking, exercising properly vs. resting and treating yourself to some extra yummies

External (Work, Social, Family, Fun)

  • Work: Pushing yourself to achieve goals vs. seeing the bigger picture and enjoying the ride
  • Social: Satisfying your social desires vs. taking time for yourself
  • Family: Fulfilling your familial responsibilities vs. creating healthy boundaries (its okay say no to people, it’s healthy)
  • Fun: Allocating time for things you enjoy doing vs. making sure you don’t overdo it

Take some time to look into different parts of your life. Set some goals and plan! I do this thing called a “Will Do” list, not to be confused with a “To Do” list, it’s a damn “I will get this list of shit done today” list. Its a mindset, and works wonders!  Processed with VSCO with a5 preset

Be kind to yourself. Empower yourself, and don’t forget to give yourself some credit along the way. Balance won’t feel good if you’re cruel to yourself in creating it! We can get so caught up with our lives, our “omg, so gigantic” problems, that those things become bigger than ourselves, bigger than our happiness. The most important thing we can do is take care of ourselves because if we don’t do that, then we can’t take care of anyone, anything, or any situation fully. You might as well be a fucking hamster in a wheel. Break that cycle today! You rock, and you’re with it. You can do this, stop running in circles, and chill the ‘f’ out for a sec,  evaluate your shit, and lets get balancing. This isn’t gonna happen in one day. It’s okay to be realistic with your goals, and take your time. This is your life path, no one else’s.

Hanging with Uncle Karl

Unless you’ve lived in a cave all your life, or for some strange reason you hated 90’s fashion (which makes me not trust you), then you know exactly who Karl Kani is. I’ve known this cool dude for quite a while, and when he asked me to help him with the release party of his 90’s capsule collection, I couldn’t say no! This party was absolutely 100% LIT!!! There where models wearing signature 90’s pieces stationed throughout the event. The Vibe was set!The Dj was playing all 90’s hip hop, the rsvp list was over 700 people, and the line was wrapped around the corner all night! Celebrities included Anthony Anderson, Kurupt, Karen Civil, etc… what was really cool was the amount of young people lined up outside to see the collection. Shows you how much iconic fashion stays strong in our culture. A lot of you love all of your street wear brands, but did you know that Uncle Karl was the one who started this entire movement! So Yeah! You’re welcome! Recapping after the party in Karl’s studio the next day I caught myself looking around at all the iconic photos of Tupac, Biggie, Nas, etc., the vintage pieces, and his new collection (which I’m pumped about) when I realized how cool this guy is… when we get to know people over the years you kind of forget who they are and the impact they’ve made. At the end of the day Karl is a father, a business man, designer, he looks out for those close to him, and he’s an overall great fucking guy. Now go get your ass a little more familiar with Karl Kani and maybe you an come sit with the cool kids.
